Quite simply, its a fabulous read - I want to thank and congratulate you for your honesty and openness. I was moved by your story of you leaving Melbourne, and inspired by your actions in the departure of the ship from Sydney. It must have been such a sad and emotional time for many women, and the Ship's Captain certainly didn't help!
I also wanted to congratulate you on the writing. I have recently read the Australian literary classic 'A Fortunate Life' by A.B. Facey. The style in both your book and Facey's book is similar- simple, truthful, emotive, 'real'.
The great thing is that both books add to what we are trying to do here. Our mission is 'to ensure the stories and the history of our community are recorded, for future generations to learn and enjoy'. By reading your book, I am learning and enjoying your story, and it's part in our history.
Thank you for the pleasure of reading your story, and for enabling Community Books to be involved in capturing another part of our history for future generations to learn and enjoy.
I work with groups and people throughout Queensland every week. If its OK with you, I will show your book to a number of emerging writers, as a sample of an excellent piece of work.
With best regards, and much admiration for an excellent piece of work,
James
